  Meet the PSPNHM Board

Puget Sound Health Ministries (PSHM, fomerly Puget Sound Parish Nurse & Health Ministries) is a nonprofit corporation established in Washington in 1996. The 501 (c)(3)  tax-exempt organization is led by an eleven member board of directors, following bylaws that are reviewed annually. We are not a membership organization that must hold an annual meeting and have members vote on bylaw changes and officers/directors, but the parish nurses, health ministers, and friends who support PSHM are considered “members.” The ministry is alive because of donations from these "members,"  which are tax-deductible. (The labels on all mailings indicate the date in which one’s “membership” expires.)

Members of the board of directors serve as  director for three years. The officers of the  board consist of a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. The officers serve a two-year term. Elections are held annually in June. A nominations committee is appointed by the board president. Following a visit with the nominees, a recommendation for serving is made to the board by the president and the vote is made.

Members of the board not only provide their expertise in leadership, but also plan annual events, present the concept of parish nursing within the community, attend conferences and display materials about the organization, write articles for the newsletter, offer consultation and support to those in ministry, and some teach the Basic Parish Nurse class.

The board continues to seek members with expertise in areas such as marketing, writing, and fundraising. Board members do not have to be parish nurses. Clergy and lay leaders are welcome. Contact us if you're interested!
